Jeffrey and Kay Friedman of Kirkville, N.Y., are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Jackie Lynn Friedman, to Matthew Charles Stanmyre, son of Charles and Josephine Stanmyre of Reston, Va.

Jackie and Matt both moved to northern New Jersey in the Spring of 2009, when they were hired by The Star-Ledger of Newark, N.J., as sports enterprise reporters. It did not take long for the two to fall in love as they spent the next few years sharing their interests of sports, reading, writing and the beach.

Jackie, a 2008 graduate of Syracuse University, is now enrolled at Rutgers University pursuing her Masters of Social Work, to be completed in the Spring of 2014. Matt graduated from West Virginia University in 2004 and remains employed at the Star-Ledger.

The couple became engaged in November 2012 with an October 2013 wedding planned. They are excited to be sharing their special day with family and friends from all over the country. The ceremony and reception will take place at The Beeches in Rome, N.Y.
