NUPITALS PLANNED IN TWO WEEKS LASTS 65 YEARS The Gilbert's will celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary on Novemeber 4, 2009. They met in 1941 when he was her bus driver to Nazareth high school. In a time when rural farm students parents paid to have bus service. They dated fell in love and were engaged July 3,1943. Bride-to-be, Miss Jane L. Seifert, daughter of Sallie & Paul Seifert, Bushkill Twp. worked and waited on the farm for Quentin. He was serving in the Army Air Force during WWII. He flew in B-17's as a tail gunner. His squadron was reassigned to the B-29 Superfortress to aerial photo map Africa and the Middle East. Sergeant Gilbert came home on leave for two weeks in the fall of 1944. Jane was very glad to see Quentin and proclaimed "It's now or never." It worked, in less than two weeks arrangements were made, church,invitations,wedding gown of slipper satin costing $50.00, three bridesmaids dresses, groomsmen and flowers. The nupitals were at Salem United Church of Christ, Moorestown, PA. Guests and family enjoyed a reception at the Crystal Jade restaurant, Rt. 512 south of Bath. There was even time for a honeymoon to Pocono Manor for the newlyweds before Quentin returned to duty. They had four children: Linda Kortz, wife of John, Bath: Quentin Gilbert Jr.,husband of Kathryn, Nazareth; Suzanne,wife of Everett, Bethlehem, and first born Eloise who is deceased. Grandsons: Paul r. Gilbert and Ryan G. Kortz The couple is living in a warm cozy house they built in 1953,enjoying family and gardening. Happy anniversary Mom and Daddy, Love, Linda, Bobby & Suzanne
