1940 Packard 180 Formal Sedan

Item Description:
The Packard 180 was first introduced in 1940 and was Packards top of the line vehicle. It served as a replacement for its V12 automobiles from the previous years. The Packard 180 was given a 356 cubic engine inline 8 cyl that produced an astonishing 160hp. Packard proudly acclaimed it was the most powerful 8 cylinder engine on the market. Through most of the other series 110, 120, 160 and 180 were similar in body styling. The 180 had esteem status and was know for its exquisite interior detailing including wood trim and vanities. Its lush carpets and Superior fabrics fitted to its interior was presented in a prestigious manner. Luxuriously equipped and Lavishly trimmed a special 180 Packard could set a buyer back $4,800 or more depending on request and options. These unique features appealed to elite buyers as well as businessman. Further demonstrating Packards success was its production of 1900 units in 1940, this was 4 times more then the 1939 V12 models. Offering up to 10 different body styles the Club Sedan and Division window equipped Formal Sedan seen here are highly desirable. This particular car is and exceptional example and won an CCCA first prize at a national competition badge# 0801. The vehicle is finished in black and fitted with a light tan interior the front seat has been upgraded in Black Leather. The paint is in excellent condition with the exception of a few flaws due to age. Chrome and stainless is clean some very light pitting and minor fading can be found in a few areas but overall in very nice condition. The car is fully loaded with just about every option available, includes optional Dual Side mounts with Spares, bumper guards, cigar lighter, heater, clock and Factory Radio. The Radio option is very rare its controls are in the back along the side armrest for rear passengers to use and control, this is very unique feature and seldom seen. The interior includes rear division window, hidden jump seat, and vanity mirrors concealed by wood trim. The exterior features a luggage rack, running boards and a striking front end this was the last year for free standing headlights, the top is in excellent condition and looks like new. Equipped with its original 356ci 8 cyl engine and 3 speed Manual transmission . The car drives better then new and shifts smooth and effortlessly. Sitting on a 138inch wheel base gliding down the road in this Packard is extremely comfortable and soothing. Only 1900 Packard 180’s were built in 10 various body styles. Each one is rare and unique to it’s own specs. This particular vehicle is a loaded example, of the 1900 built records do not specify how many of each model were sold, this 1940 Formal Sedan could be much more rare then expected.
