Year-Round/ Permanent position:
Recreation Specialist, Sports, Outdoors & Fitness

San Juan Island Park and Recreation (Island Rec) seeks a dynamic, organized recreation professional to fill a permanent ¾ time Recreation Specialist position who will primarily be responsible for coordinating and leading sports, fitness and outdoor recreation programs and events. The successful candidates will have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation or 4 years of relevant education and experience; possess good communication and interpersonal skills and will enjoy being part of a small hard working team committed to the essential work of public recreation. The position requires working 30 hours a week including evenings, weekends and some holidays. This position offers a full benefit package including health care, retirement, paid vacations and holidays. Pay ranges $22.98 – $32.71 per/hour depending on experience.

Summer 2021 Seasonal Positions:
Camp Eagle Rock Director -
The Camp Director is full time/seasonal and responsible for all aspects of camp, including program development and supervision of staff and campers grades k-5. This position requires a mature, responsible person who can make sound decisions and problem solve independently.

Camp Eagle Rock Counselors –
This is a seasonal/full time position for about 8 weeks. Working under the direct supervision of the Camp Director, the Camp Counselor is responsible for implementing a safe and enriching recreation program for youth ages 6-12, in small and large groups. Promotes good personal relationships, plans and implements a variety of recreational activities and is constantly alert to protect the health and safety of campers.

Camp Eagle Rock Recreation Assistant-
This is a seasonal/full time position for about 8 weeks that works under the general supervision of the Camp Eagle Rock Director. This position primarily assists program staff in leading recreational activities for youth and assists with other program functions.

Dragonfly Preschool Camp Director -
The Camp Director is part time/seasonal and responsible for all aspects of camp, including program curriculum, based on already created themes and supervision of staff and campers. This position requires a mature, responsible person who can make sound decisions and problem solve independently.

Dragonfly Preschool Camp Assistant -
This position is seasonal/part time. Counselor is responsible for providing a safe and enriching program experience for ages 3-5. This position requires a mature, responsible person who can make sound decisions and problem solve with the camp director.

Sailing Instructor -
This is a summer seasonal position that requires a mature person who can make sound decisions and problem solve independently. This position is responsible for providing sailing instruction to youth and adults, creating a safe learning environment, and supervising assistant instructors and teaching assistants. The job is carried out on inland ponds and open waters.

Sailing Assistant Instructor -
This is a summer seasonal position, responsible for providing a safe learning environment and instruction in the sailing program. The job is carried out on inland ponds and open waters.
