The National Railroad Passenger Corporation (Amtrak) is seeking modification of coverage under the Washington Department of Ecology’s National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) General Permit for Stormwater Discharges Associated with Industrial Activities at the industrial site known as the Amtrak Seattle Maintenance Facility, located at 187 South Holgate Street in Seattle.
Amtrak is applying for a Level 2 corrective action waiver for total suspended solids in stormwater discharges from the site in 2022. Since there have been no reporting exceedances for total suspended solids after Amtrak’s compliance sampling point was updated in the third quarter of 2022 to exclude off-site runoff, Amtrak requests a waiver for Level 2 corrective action requirements.
