Satsop-Paraeducator/Instructional Assistant Open Date 11/21/2023 Paraeducator/Instructional Assistant Job Description: The job of the Para Instructional Assistant is to work alongside the certificated staff member and be involved in instructional activities, record keeping, testing, filing, food service, lunchroom and recess monitoring, provide needed transportation, and perform other duties as assigned under the direction of the certificated teacher and principal in order to create the best learning environment possible. Job Duties: Applicants interested in this position must be willing to be flexible with job duties and have the ability to work with students, staff and parents. Examples of duties include, but are not limited to: • Work directly with students individually and/or in small groups to carry out the instructional program in all necessary content areas including, but not limited to: listening, speaking, writing, reading and math • Prepare specified materials or equipment for use in program • Report learning or other difficulties encountered by students to the certificated staff member • Prepare teaching aids as directed by the certificated staff member • Operate instructional equipment • Prepare materials, both academic and non-academic to be used within the classroom • Implement with specified students/groups, programs as planned • Monitor students both in and out of the classroom • Tutor students on a one-to-one basis • Collect and record student data • Correct students work • Perform routine food service work as instructed • Serve meals and interact with students and staff in a positive manner • Supervise student lunchtime and recess activities • Participate in the cleaning of dining and other necessary facilities after use • assist in transportation of students when necessary using school vans while maintaining order and minimize disruptive behavior • Become a positive role model for students • Carry out other duties assigned by the principal Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: • Ability to work with and supervise students at all grade levels • Ability to accept responsibility, take direction and work independently or as part of a team • Ability to perform satisfactorily the required functions of the job including the ability to communicate effectively (oral and written) • Ability work cooperatively with other staff members Qualifications: • High School Diploma or equivalent • Associate of Arts degree; or showing 72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits at an institution of higher education; or showing a passing grade of 461 or higher for ETS ParaPro Assessment Required upon Hiring: • Fingerprinting* • Valid Food Handlers Card • First Aid Certificate Required Attachments: • Cover Letter • Resume • Two classified reference forms and/or letters • HS diploma and transcripts or equivalent • Transcripts for: Associate of Arts degree; or showing 72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits at an institution of higher education; or showing a passing grade of 461 or higher for ETS ParaPro Assessment Supplemental Information: • This position is for 7.5 hours a day. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, paid sick leave and 2 personal days. • Hourly Wage and benefits are dependents upon years of service. Salary Rate Range $19.75 hr to $24.05 Hr *The State of Washington requires a State and Federal Fingerprint check before hiring any new employee. NOTE: Cost of the background check and fingerprint is the responsibility of the prospective employee.
