REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL
Description of Service
The Ute Mountain Ute Tribe is accepting proposals from licensed attorneys in good standing within their jurisdiction of practice to submit a proposal to the Tribe for contracted services as a Public Defender in the Court of Indian Offenses, Ute Mountain Ute Agency. Selected candidate will operate as an independent contractor representing adult defendants and juvenile offenders charged with offenses in the Court of Indian Offenses, Ute Mountain Ute Agency within the territorial jurisdiction of Ute Mountain Ute Reservation. It is expected that the number of hours necessary to fulfill these services will be approximately 15 to 20 hours per week, though this is subject to change. Public Defender will be expected to perform all services related to the representation.
Proposals should be in writing signed by an attorney representative of the applying firm or individual, and received by mail by Friday, July 16, 2021, addressed to Priscilla BlackHawk, Court Administrator, Court of Indian Offenses, P. O. Box KK, Towaoc, Colorado 81334.
After July 16, 2021, the Court Administrator will review submissions and contact prospective candidates. If additional information is needed from a prospective candidate, the candidate will be advised of the need for additional information will be given a reasonable time to provide the information. Once all information is received and depending on the suitability of proposal, the Tribe may select from those candidates submitting proposals, may hold interviews, may re-re-open this request, or withdraw the request.
Final selection will be made as soon as possible, and is contingent upon the availability of funds and the successful negotiation of a contract.
